Functions of the European Data Protection Board under GDPR-Part 2

In continuation to our last post (link here-https://worldprivacylaw.com/?p=818) we shall be discussing the outstanding points provided under article 70 of the GDPR relating to the Task of the European Data Protection Board. 

  1. Issue or draw up guidelines, recommendation, best practices, for supervisory authority concerning the application of measures and the setting of administrative fines;
  1. Review the practical application of the guidelines, recommendation and best practices;  
  1. Encourage the drawing up of code of conduct and the establishment of data protection certification mechanisms and data protection seals;
  1. Provide the Commission with an opinion on the certification requirements under article 43(8) and opinion on icons referred to in article 12(7);
  1. Promote the cooperation and the effective bilateral and multilateral exchange of information and best practices between the supervisory authorities;
  1. Promote the exchange of knowledge and documentation on data protection legislation and practice with data protection supervisory authorities worldwide;
  1. Promote common training programmes and facilitate personnel exchanges between the supervisory authorities of third countries or with international organisations;
  1. Issuance of opinion on codes of conduct drawn up at Union Level;
  1. Maintain a publicly accessible electronic register of decisions taken by supervisory authorities and courts on issues handled by in the consistency mechanism;
